Our Approach

Decisions tend to arrive one at a time. Their consequences seldom do.

A sale, a promotion, or a transfer of wealth is rarely one decision. We look at everything it touches, in the order it will unfold.

The visible decision

We name that decision plainly. Then we ask what it will set in motion.

Diagram: One decision, as it first appears.

Hidden consequences

We look for the connections first, while they can still be shaped.

Diagram: What it touches, and how those areas touch each other.

Sequence

Sequence shapes opportunity.

We start early. As the decision moves, so do we.

Opportunity

See what remains possible.

Together, connected decisions reveal choices that stay hidden when each is considered alone.

What happens next

The decision, made deliberately.

Once the whole picture is visible, the next step is often smaller and plainer than it first appeared.

The work that moves you forward

We begin by understanding how your wealth works in your life: how it is held, what it needs to support, and which commitments are already in place. We also listen to the story behind it and the relationships that shape decisions, including where family members may see things differently.

From there, we clarify the tradeoffs, identify which choices depend on others, and put the work in the right order. We consider the tax implications of those choices during your lifetime and as wealth passes to others, in coordination with the professionals responsible for that advice.

An example working view, showing how considerations can connect: the choice in front of you, with what it needs to support and the commitments already in place, which can depend on each other. Tax implications are part of the view, and differing family views may apply.

Working with the people you trust

We work alongside the professionals you already trust. If a decision calls for expertise you do not yet have in place, we can consider an introduction and clarify how that professional’s work fits with the other advice you receive.

Sometimes the right relationship changes what is possible. Paulina Hazen coordinates those introductions only with your yes. Meet Paulina Hazen

An example working view: professional input is noted where a consideration calls for it, here on the commitments already in place and on tax implications. An introduction can be considered.

Advice for the decisions that follow

A new opportunity, family change, or different need for income can shift what deserves attention. We revisit the plan and its assumptions as each new decision takes shape.

An example working view: a new decision, a different need for income, arrives. The choice and what it needs to support are marked to revisit. Earlier professional input stays noted where it was added.

Begin with one decision. The rest comes into view.
